True Story:
A fundraising brochure I translated mentioned something I knew the target audience would be taken aback by, causing them not to donate altogether. I asked the client about it. The information he told me changed the picture entirely, and I altered the translation accordingly.
Here's the feedback the client sent me a while later:

During the translation I'll be asking you many questions, to ensure I understand precisely which direction you want your message to go: Softer, stronger, etc.
When translating, sometimes sentences or paragraphs must be written from scratch, so that the target audience can connect to the style and content. That's why I make sure I understand the smallest details of your messaging.

The Process

You send an email with the file you need translated and a brief explanation of your goal and target audience.

I send you timeline and price options.
(longer timeline = cheaper)

During translation, I ask you questions (the questions the target audience will ask). I ensure the translation is clear and straightforward.

Upon completion, I proofread again to check that it all flows and doesn't sound 'translated'. You receive the translation after sending proof of payment.

Once you've added the design, send it to me and I'll ensurethere are no mistakes, ommited words/lines etc. . (Many times there are...)

Do you do SEO, in English?
A. Planning to rely on SEO to bring visitors to youe website? Hire a professional SEOer. (I can refer you.)
B. Have other ways to bring most visitors to your website? Not planning to invest in SEO? Yes, I can write the titles and descriptions for SEO in English, according to my limited understanding, without having been trained in this area.
Do you do editing as well?
No. I translate, in English, in a way that sounds the most convincing and interesting. If someone else's English needs correction, it means it doesn't sound good . Changing it from "not sounding good" to "sounding not as bad as it was before" is not something I do.
Much attention to detail. We were extremely satisfied..
